Heart to Heart Talk on This Valentine’s Day!

On this valentine’s day, let’s talk about our hearts, heart to heart.

Each February, NIH (National Institutes of Health), NHLBI (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute) and The Heart Truth® celebrate American Heart Month by motivating Americans to adopt healthy lifestyles to prevent heart disease.

Why?

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. One person dies every 37 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease. In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds. Unfortunately, about 1 in 5 heart attacks is silent—the damage is done, but the person is not aware of it. This only leads to more complications in the future. Annual physicals and regular doctor check ups are vital to monitor and maintain better health and prevent complications.

Over the past 30 years, rates of obesity have increased and remain high for adults and children. More than one-third of U.S. adults and about 17 percent of children are now obese. By living a healthy lifestyle, you can help keep your weight composition, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels normal and lower your risk for heart disease and heart attack.

It is proven through research that we’re more successful at meeting personal health goals when we join forces with others.

Let’s celebrate American Heart Month together.
Let’s practice a healthy diet this month together.
Lets build awareness about a healthy heart together.
